Hello!
Thank you for your interest in goodYus.
goodYus was born from the belief that everyone can make a difference in the world, even in the smallest ways.
Travel has always been a big part of my life and over the years my trips have taken me to many developing nations, where I have been able to observe first-hand how people live. I have seen so many who live in challenging conditions, for whom obtaining the barest necessities is a struggle. These experiences never fail to remind me of how blessed most of us are in comparison, how much we have, and how much of that we don’t even manage to put to good use.
When I visit less fortunate communities, I often think about how much wastage there is back home. Money we spend like water, on things we never use. Junk that is left collecting dust in our homes…stuff that we forget we even own…when many others have so little.
I started by setting up a fundraising campaign called “Put It To Good Yus”, where I raised money by undertaking sponsored adventure challenges. I also asked family and friends to consider donating to a worthy cause in lieu of giving gifts on special occasions, such as birthdays and Christmas. I hoped that this would help me cut down on material possessions, reduce my carbon footprint, and help someone else benefit.
These days, in addition to fundraising, our efforts at goodYus include volunteering, skill sharing, pro-bono consulting, awareness raising, and the donation of materials. We raise funds for a variety of causes, and we also partner with a number of local educational institutions in developing countries.
We are always grateful for any support or interest in helping us to spread awareness of world issues, and donations are also very much appreciated. We do not have a “fixed” target, and no donation is too small. All donations go towards carefully selected causes, with a focus on improving educational opportunities in the developing world.
You can give as much or as little as you like. It will still make a difference in someone’s life.
I really believe that the world could be a better place if everyone thought to put even just a tiny bit of the resources they have — be it time, money, skills, or possessions — to good use.
I hope you agree, and thank you very much in advance for your support!
Sincerely,
Yui Pow-Redford
